Courir de Mardi Gras

Monday February 16 1pm-5pm (meet at Murphy Highschool Parking Lot)

Join us for a traditional Cajun Mardi Gras—on bikes! We’ll beg for our gumbo and chase the Bayou Chicken in Mobilians on Bikes’ First Annual Mardi Gras fun community event.

Festivities begin at Murphy High with a costumed door-to-door ride to “beg for lagniappe” at member homes. If you live in the Courir Zone (see the map) you can post a comment to get put on the route. After some begging and clowning around you can join us as we ride to the next house.

Stick around for the big Chicken Chase. Costumed riders chase the Bayiou Chicken through the streets of Midtown Mobile until he is caught for the pot.

Finally the Capitain will invite us to her mansion for a cajun-style gumbo party with with zydeco music and homemade gumbo by Joeb Shrenk.

This will be a new MOB tradition for Mardi Gras, and you don’t want to miss the joie de vivre!

Why not make a cajun-style costume? (see directions) It’s an easy and fun way to laissez les bon temps rouler!
