2014 Tweed Ride

January 18, 2014 – 11:45 – 4:00pm
Cream & Sugar Cafe (351 George St, Mobile, AL, 36604)

Don your tweed and mount your two-wheeled steed! It’s time for Mobile’s 4th annual Tweed Ride. Prepare your woolens, knickers and chapeaux. Shine that bell and lube those chains. Then partake with us on the most leisurely of bike rides through the historic parts of our fair city. For this year’s event we intend to follow up our ride with low tea and lawn games in Cathedral Square. So brush up on the rules for croquet and bocce and prepare to make merry. As is tradition we will also see a moving pictures show in Mobile’s only independent theatre, The Crescent. Read further for more details…

Dress: Britishy, old-timey, think late Victorian through roaring twenties, tweed is de rigueur but not necessary, look online for costume ideas and utilize Goodwill, any and all functioning bikes will do.

Sally Forth: Noon sharp so plan to meet at Cream and Sugar at 11:45am

The Ride: A short 1/2 hour or so leisurely stroll through the downtown area. Ding those bells!

Low Tea: We’ll pretend we’re British upper crust in Cathedral Square. Finger sandwiches, sweets, and tea from Cream and Sugar Cafe are on the menu! There will be croquet and bocce and we’ll have a fashion contest for best dressed man and woman, best ladies chapeau, and best facial hair.

Movie: 2pm matinee “August: Osage County” at the Crescent.

After party: Who knows? Maybe folks will head to Callaghan’s for a pint.
